Winter
has arrived!! For a complete
list of hills open see the
Ski-Central update.
Last year Muskoka had snow during the
month of November through March, and
expect more of the same this year. People
are planning their ski vacations, both
downhill and cross-country, and we have
lots of places for both.
Snowmobilers are planning their weekend
trips and are booking chalets for a
week, or for the season. For
current information regarding the
opening of snowmobile trails check out
the
OFSC trail report.
And remember, even if the lakes look
frozen, they are usually not safe until
late January.

Five Smart Choices For Arriving Home
Safely from the
Ontario Snowmobiler Magazine
1. Stay on OFSC trails - 80% of
fatalities occur off OFSC trails.
2. Ride within your ability and
according to weather - over 80% of
fatalities occur when riders
inadvertently lose control.
3. Stay off public roads -
one third of fatalities happen when
snowmobilers get hit by automobiles or
run into parked cars.
4. Stay on marked ice trails
- a third of fatalities occur elsewhere
on frozen waterways by collision with
hidden obstacles or the shore, or by
drowning.
5. Practice zero tolerance
- impaired riding contributes to over
50% of snowmobile fatalities.
